Breeding your Mare

Deciding to breed your mare can be a great experience. We work closely together with the state stud EU-insemination clinic in Zweibrücken, Germany.  The insemination clinic uses the latest technologies onsite, performs regular veterinary examinations to include follicle controls and ultrasound checkups. This makes it possible to determine the right moment for the insemination, especially when frozen semen is used.

The process is rather simple: the mare is inseminated with the stallion of your choice. We offer consulation services, if assistance with the selection of a stallion is needed. During the period of insemination, your mare can stay at our stable. The care for your mare is provided to include daily paddock turnout.

Embryo Transfer

As a breeder, you might be interested to use the embryo transfer technology to produce better foals. Your valuable mare, can be bred more successfully compared to traditional breeding methods. 

With an embryo transfer, the insemination clinic works closely with the mare and its owners.  The process consists of a technique where an embryo is removed from the biological mare and placed in the uterus of a different mare. The recipient mare carries the fetus and later delivers and weans the newborn foal.

This method has the following advantages:

• High class mares can continue competing
• Your still able to breed your current mare even if she cannot carry or deliver a foal
• You can breed your older mare and not risk her health carrying out the pregnancy
• You can breed more than one foal from several mares

 It is possible to do a long-distance embryo transfer. This has the advantage that  through artificial insemination, your mare can remain at her home barn without ever leaving.
